cedar tree xpeyelhp

I supported a wonderful mentor who had some cedar tree seedlings to spare. Within a few calls and connections over 2000+ were shared. It was wonderful to see the joy on people of all ages faces in accepting a cedar tree seedling and thinking of their action of how they were going to take care of it. This is my way of how I create and develop my long list of resources willing to help out and support each other the best way we can. The Cedar tree is xpeyelhp in our Halq’emeylem language. The story of cedar is ‘long ago and person who was very gifted with many skills within the community and was acknowledged of ‘his’ gifts by the ‘Creator': Xa:ls the transformer. Xa:ls knew how important these were and transformed the man into the cedar tree. Traditional teachings of the cedar tree and its special gifts from the cedar boughs to the cedar roots bring for many teachings that have been passed and will continue to be shared to ensure that we will never forget the importance of Xa:ls teachings. This is just a brief sharing, it is important to continue to learn the teachings thru mentors, elders and knowledge keepers who hold these cedar teachings gifts. I am very passionate about cedar and working with and sharing the traditional teachings bring me a sense of humility, joy and balance.
